Abstract

Basketball is one of the staple sports in American culture, making up a huge share of pop culture in the nation and the world. American basketball teams are known all over the globe by hundreds of millions of people. The story within the NBA’s history of the center position is a very dynamic and impactful one. In service to the sport, this research paper and accompanying podcast cover the history of the center and the fluctuating trends that created its state in today's game. The center position is a spot in the NBA that has been previously neglected but is on its way to the top again.  That rich backstory lends itself to a discussion of what's to come in the future for the center position, as well.
