Henry Walsh

Wakefield School Student

My Biography:

My name is Henry Walsh, and I am a senior at Wakefield School. I will be attending JMU in the fall with the goal of studying environmental science. With me standing at 6’8”, basketball became a part of my life when I came to Wakefield, playing under my now Senior Thesis Guide, Mr. Pennisi. Before Wakefield, I had never played basketball before, but I was open to trying it (A winter sport was required). I am glad to say that I have grown to love basketball and am grateful that I had the opportunity to write about it all year. I enjoyed researching and learning more about basketball history throughout this year, especially learning about the stars of the past like Wilt Chamberlain and their impact on the game today. I think it is important to not overlook the influence of centers on the league and instead learn about their history in the NBA.

The Dominance, Fall, and Rise of the NBA Center

In my thesis, I explore the history of the center in the NBA and compare it to the centers of today. This is to show the tumultuous story of the center and predict what the position will look like in the future.
